Last Updated: February 13, 2026
At 9345205 Canada Inc. (EPIC Recovery), we are committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of your personal information. This Privacy Policy outlines how EPIC Recovery collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal information across all of our programs, including those on the Teachable platform. Our practices are in accordance with Canada’s federal privacy law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and other applicable Canadian privacy laws.
1. Our Commitment to Your Privacy
We understand the sensitive nature of the information you may share with us. Our privacy practices are built on the principles of consent, transparency, accountability, and your right to control your personal information. We collect, use, and disclose personal information only for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances.
2. What Personal Information We Collect
We collect personal information necessary to provide and manage our programs. This may include:
- Contact Information: Your name and email address.
- Account Information: Usernames and passwords created for accessing our platforms.
- Payment Details: Information required to process course payments. Note that payment processing is typically handled by third-party processors like Stripe or PayPal. We do not store full payment card numbers.
- Program Progress Data: Information about your engagement with our programs, including modules completed, videos watched, and quiz results.
- Demographic Data: Any demographic information you choose to provide during registration or program participation.
- Information Automatically Collected: To improve our services, Teachable and our analytics providers (such as Google Analytics) may automatically collect certain information when you visit our site. This includes your IP address, device information (type, operating system, browser), and usage data (pages visited, time spent on lessons, and interactions). We use this information to analyze user behavior, ensure security, and understand our audience.
- Our website and learning platforms may use cookies and similar technologies to enhance user experience and analyze traffic. You may adjust your browser settings to refuse cookies, though some features may not function properly.
3. How We Use Your Personal Information
We use your personal information for the following purposes, all of which are consistent with PIPEDA:
- To Provide and Manage Programs: To register you, grant access to materials, track progress, and manage platform use.
- To Process Payments: To complete transactions for paid programs.
- To Communicate with You: To send program updates, password resets, confirmations, and (with your consent) promotional content and newsletters. You may withdraw consent to receive marketing communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link included in our emails.
- To Understand User Engagement: We analyze usage data, including IP addresses, to track how programs are used. This helps us improve educational content and support accountability for those enrolled in formal recovery packages.
- To Improve Our Services: We use aggregate and anonymized data to evaluate program effectiveness and create new content.
- To Maintain Security: We use your data to detect and prevent misuse, fraudulent activity, or unauthorized access.
- To Comply with Legal Obligations: We retain financial records, respond to lawful access requests, or protect against fraud as required by law. We may disclose personal information where required or permitted by law, including in response to court orders, subpoenas, regulatory investigations, or to protect the safety of individuals.
4. Optional Add-On Services and Referrals
Some individuals may purchase recovery packages that include coaching or counseling. If you choose such a package, certain personal information will be added to our client management software for service delivery.
Those who only purchase educational access will not have any clinical or support information stored beyond what is required for program delivery on Teachable.
Educational program participation on Teachable does not create a clinical record and is not considered health information under Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA). Individuals receiving counselling or coaching services will be provided with separate informed consent and privacy documentation specific to those services.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only as long as needed for the purposes it was collected, which includes maintaining lifetime program access (referring to the operational life of the program and platform). If EPIC Recovery discontinues a program or platform access, we will provide reasonable notice. When personal information is no longer required for the purposes identified, it will be securely deleted, anonymized, or destroyed in accordance with our internal data retention policies and legal requirements.
6. Data Security Measures
EPIC Recovery implements strong physical, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect your personal information:
- Platform Security: We rely on Teachable’s encryption (128-bit in transit, 256-bit at rest) and secure Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure.
- Internal Controls: Only trained and authorized staff can access user data. All staff sign confidentiality agreements and adhere to PIPEDA principles.
- Access Management: We use role-based permissions to limit data access to only what is necessary.
7. International Data Transfers
Teachable uses Amazon Web Services (AWS), which may store or process data on servers outside of Canada (including in the U.S.). Teachable implements safeguards that comply with applicable privacy laws. By using our services, you consent to this data transfer. Personal information stored outside Canada may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction in which it is located, including lawful access by courts or law enforcement authorities in that jurisdiction.
8. Your Privacy Rights (Under PIPEDA)
You have the right to:
- Access your personal information.
- Request corrections to inaccurate data.
- Withdraw consent, subject to legal limits.
- File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
